Our advocacy work focuses on educating our elected officials at both state and national levels about the facts on the ground in Palestine/Israel. We often work in coalition with other organizations to wield broad-based constituent pressure. As a non-profit organization, we never work on electoral campaigns or get involved in electoral politics.
At the national level we have successfully called on our members of congress to Skip Netanyahu’s Speech and to support the Iran Deal. We are a partner in the No Way to Treat a Child Campaign, which seeks to challenge Israel’s prolonged military occupation of Palestinians by exposing widespread and systematic ill-treatment of Palestinian children in the Israeli military detention system. It is a project of Defense for Children International – Palestine and American Friends Service Committee. As such, we support Rep. Betty McCollum’s legislation to promote human rights for Palestinian children by ending Israeli military detention of Palestinian children. We meet with congressional people to educate them about the detention of Palestinian children. We also educate them on LIST OTHER LEGISLATION. We have demonstrated outside of the offices of legislators who support unlimited military aid to Israel or who oppose the McCollum bill.
At the state level, we are a founding member of and participant in the Freedom2Boycott coalition – a group of more than 100 Massachusetts organizations that oppose bills that would undermine our right to participate in the BDS movement. In 2017 and again in 2019 we worked with Massachusetts Peace Action and the Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine to organize opposition to state anti-BDS legislation (deceptively framed as anti-discrimination legislation).
